For all the 2020 Mitsubishi models, the current buzz is surrounding the new 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and the reveal of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport (known as the ASX in foreign markets). The new Outlander Sport is rocking a refreshed exterior with a sharper look credited to a revised frontal fascia and rear end design. A new 8-inch touchscreen display will replace the old 7-inch display and a GT trim that’s powered by a 2.4L engine with 168 HP and 167 lb-ft of torque. The Eclipse Cross was an IIHS Top Safety Pick in 2019 and that should continue for the 2020 Eclipse Cross as it retains the same advanced safety features including forward collision mitigation, automatic high beam, and lane departure warning. The Eclipse has 4 new trims for 2020: ES 1.5T, LE 1.5T 2WD, SE 1.5T 2WD, and SEL 1.5T 2WD.

The Outlander crossover SUV continues to be the bestselling Mitsubishi model in the USA (41,818 units in 2018) with the Outlander Sport in a close second (39,153 units in 2018). The Outlander will most likely continue that sales trend in 2020 along with being the largest crossover SUV Mitsubishi offers. The 2020 Outlander is a carryover coming off a slight refresh in 2019 with new styling, larger wheels, new steering/suspension, and interior upgrades. The Outlander keeps its hybrid option alive in the 2020 Outlander PHEV. This plug-in hybrid paired with a 2.0L 4-cyl engine, two 80 HP electric motors, and a 12-kWh lithium-ion battery pushing out 197 HP with a combined 74 MPGe is arguably the best vehicle Mitsubishi has to offer in the States.

Don’t forget to check out the 2020 Mirage and Mirage G4 as they will remain the most affordable options as well as the only sedans left in the Mitsubishi vehicle lineup both achieving great fuel economy over 38 mpg cmb.

Looking towards the future, things are looking up for Mitsubishi. As recent as early 2019, Mitsubishi has revealed a look into some future concept models that could come to fruition and it’s got us excited. The Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer made its world premiere at the 89th Annual Geneva International Motor Show in March 2019. The name comes from the well-known Engelberg ski resort in Switzerland. The Engelberg Tourer is a twin-motor 4WD plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) offering high levels of performance and efficiency on any terrain, in any weather condition. Other future concept models that deserve some attention are the Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept, GT-PHEV Concept, eX Concept, GC-PHEV Concept, XR-PHEV Concept, AR Concept, GR-HEV Concept, PX MiEV Concept, and CA-MiEV Concept.
